Groups & Classes
Arts & Crafts - Daytime & Evenings
We have various arts and crafts groups that meet in different locations, these groups are informal and aimed at all levels. You can bring along your existing project to work on or get inspired by others to start a new project. We welcome all ages and encourage the sharing of ideas and skills whilst enjoying a relaxed atmosphere together.
Make Do and Mend
Do you need help to mend something? Or want to learn to use a sewing machine? Come along for a couple of hours, bring your projects, learn new skills and enjoy a good craic!

Exercise Classes
Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight helps promote well-being and helps prevent illnesses like strokes and heart disease as well as improving balance and mobility.
The Northern Fells Group runs weekly classes led by qualified trainers, day-time and evening, at our village halls and other local venues, and there are other classes (yoga, pilates etc) run by other local groups advertised in parish magazines, on noticeboards and in the Northern Fells Group
Please see our diary of classes and events for details about dates, times and venues:
Friendly Walkers
Walks are open to everyone, whether you currently walk or want to start. Our walks range from under 30 minutes (ideal if you are recovering from ill health) up to 90 minutes and longer sessions of up to 6 miles. Walks run on different days of the week.
See Diary of Events for latest dates and times or Friendly Walkers Groups for all up coming walks.

Lunch Groups
lunch groups provide the opportunity for people who are isolated to get out and meet up with friends and neighbours in the Northern Fells Area.
Transport can be arranged to help those no longer driving. Some lunch groups are held in local restaurants, pubs and cafes, and some are in community halls and are run by volunteers.
See Diary of Events for latest dates and times and who to contact for your nearest group.
Pre-booking is essential at the lunches so please ring and book your place well in advance.
Please see DIARY OF EVENTS for further details.

Cooking for Men
This group meet at Caldbeck Parish Hall kitchen to enjoy a cookery demonstration and a ‘hands-on’ session to prepare the dish. This is followed by lunch, which is usually the dish demonstrated on the day.
Numbers are limited due to space so pre-booking is essential through Chloe Duerdin and a small charge is made to cover costs and ingredients.
