Young People & Families
We have a range of projects, services and activities aimed at children, young people and families.
Holiday Schemes
CHILD and YOUTH ACTIVITY SCHEME
During the summer school holidays we provide a programme of activities for children of 5 years and older at affordable prices as we know how difficult it is for parents and carers to access schemes locally. Often our schedules provide full days of activities such as:
Crafts and arts
Drama workshops
Sports, including coaching provided by local sports clubs
Outdoor adventure and bushcraft
Team work
Community projects
Baking and cooking
We base our sessions around fun, informal, hands on activity sessions that allow children and young people a chance to meet others, enjoy familiar as well as new activities, learn new skills and develop new friendships.
The 2026 NFG Summer Youth Scheme will be running throughout the entire summer holidays, offering sessions four days per week. We are delighted to welcome Aimee Lillington as our Youth Activities Lead this year. Aimee lives locally and attended the NFG Youth Scheme herself when she was younger!
The sessions will take place in Rosley (two days per week) and Caldbeck (two days per week), running from 10am–3pm. The scheme is open to children aged 5–11, with a cost of £10 per child, per day.
We are hoping to open bookings via Eventbrite in early July. To join the mailing list for updates or to make an enquiry, please email youth@northernfellsgroup.org.uk or contact Chloe Duerdin on 07940 237745
11-16 year old’s - Tell us your !
Last year (2025) we provided 3 days of exciting activities in and around the area for our local 11 to 16 year old’s; With sessions at Ernest Cook (Mungrisdale): Nature activities & Go Ape (Whinlatter Forest): Climbing activities.
As we start to plan the 2026 season of youth activities, we would love to hear from older teenagers in our catchment area to engage with them and find out what activities they would like to see and what we can do to support them. Please email Chloe Duerdin with any suggestions and queries at: youth@northernfellsgroup.org.uk
Family Days
We provide occasional family activity days for all age groups, these usually take place in village halls and are often centred around different seasonal celebrations such as Easter, Christmas etc. Keep a look out on our Diary of Events for updates.
These activity days are usually free of charge and open to any age group and family make up, but we do ask that children are accompanied by a parent/carer.
You will also find us at some of the popular agriculture shows in summer such as the Hesket Newmarket show, where we provide a full day of activities.
Other activities
We also hold health and wellbeing sessions such as:
Hesket Newmarket Allotment project - An outdoor community space for sharing time, growing plants and hopefully sharing produce!
